“…just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to walk/journey with him rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught and overflowing with thankfulness…”
At Christ Community Church our goal is to have 100% participation in our Growth Groups. We understand that different people are at different places in their journey, so we have developed a program that is structured yet fluid enough to meet each person where they are in their journey. We are working to integrate the following three values in all of our Growth Groups:
Serve & Share
It is interesting that in Col. 2:6-7 Paul talks about walking with Jesus before he talks about learning and growing. The purpose of our Growth Groups is to make disciples of Jesus who will walk with Him. As we walk with Jesus, we do what Jesus would do. Jesus served those around him—healed and met people’s needs. He also shared the good news of his kingdom—He evangelized. We encourage our growth groups to find opportunities to serve others and share Jesus—like handing out laundry supplies for an outreach at Dirty Dave’s Laundromat on June 17, 2017.
As we begin to do what Christ would do, we see all our failures and shortcomings; our gaps in biblical knowledge and ministry practices. These deficiencies motivate us to learn from each other and grow. We pray our growth groups build each other in Christ and strengthen each other in faith.
Fun & Fellowship
In our growth groups we want people to get real with each other, not hide behind a mask. We believe people begin to do this as they “do life together” – hanging out, sharing a meal, having fun with each other. We want people to plug into a group where they become close enough to share their struggles and shortcomings in order to learn and grow.
Finally, we believe that as people do these 3 things, they will praise God and that will transform our worship as a church! We will be so overflowing with thankfulness to God for what he is doing in our lives and for how he is using us to reach people with His Good News that we cannot help but express thankfulness in our worship times together.
